I Found a Hidden USB Inside a Sausage I Bought — But What I Saw on It Still Haunts Me

I’ll never forget that morning — the day a simple breakfast turned into something straight out of a mystery movie. 🍴

Yesterday had been completely ordinary. I’d stopped by the supermarket on my way home from work, grabbed a few things for the week — bread, milk, cheese, and a pack of sausages. Nothing fancy, just the usual. I wasn’t even that hungry, just wanted a quick sandwich before bed.

When I got home, I sliced one of the sausages, made myself a sandwich, and watched a bit of TV. Everything tasted normal. No strange smell, no weird texture. I wrapped what was left of the sausage in plastic and placed it back in the fridge. End of story — or so I thought.

The next morning, I decided to make breakfast before heading out. I took the same sausage, placed it on the cutting board, and began slicing. But this time, something felt… off. The knife hit something solid, almost metallic. I frowned, thinking maybe the meat had frozen overnight. But when I pressed harder, the knife stopped completely.

I leaned in closer and saw something shiny embedded in the middle of the sausage. My first thought was that it was a piece of metal from the factory — maybe a machine part that accidentally fell in. I started scraping away at it with the tip of the knife… until I realized what it was.

A USB flash drive.

Yes. Inside my sausage. A small, silver USB stick covered in bits of fat and seasoning. 😳

For a moment, I just stood there staring at it, my brain refusing to make sense of what I was seeing. I’d already eaten from that sausage the night before — had I swallowed something else without noticing? My stomach turned at the thought.

I washed the USB under hot water and wiped it clean with a paper towel. My hands were shaking. I should’ve thrown it away. I should’ve called the store or the authorities. But instead… curiosity won.

I plugged it into my laptop.

The drive opened instantly. Only one folder appeared on the screen, titled “OPEN ME.” My heart was pounding. Against every instinct, I clicked it.

Inside, there was only one single photo file.

I opened it — and froze.

On the screen appeared the image of a man I had never seen before. He was smiling, almost laughing, looking straight into the camera. The background was completely black. His face was close to the lens, as if he were staring directly at me.

It didn’t look like a professional photo — more like a selfie taken in a dark room. Something about it felt… wrong. The lighting, his expression — even his eyes. It was as if he knew I’d be looking at him.

I closed the laptop immediately and pushed the chair back. My heart was racing so fast it hurt.

Who was he? How had this USB ended up inside a sealed supermarket sausage? Was it a prank? A message? Or something worse?

I tried to calm myself down. Maybe some factory worker had done it as a joke, or maybe someone dropped it by accident before packaging. But still — why label it “OPEN ME”? And why that photo?

I didn’t sleep that night. I kept replaying that man’s face in my head, the eerie smile, the dark background. Every time I thought about deleting the photo, something stopped me.

The next day, I returned to the supermarket and asked to speak to the manager. I told him what I’d found. He looked at me like I was crazy until I showed him the photo. His expression changed instantly. He called someone from the back, whispered a few words, and then politely asked me to leave the USB with them so they could “investigate.”

I left it — but deep down, I knew I’d never hear back.

When I got home, I checked my fridge. The remaining sausages were gone. I didn’t remember throwing them out. Maybe I did it half-asleep, maybe not. But ever since that day, I can’t bring myself to buy anything pre-packaged again.

Sometimes, late at night, I still wonder who that man was — and what else was hidden on that USB before I opened it.

One photo. One smile. One mystery that I’ll never forget. 😨
