I was all set to throw away this old chair, battered and worn after nearly 20 years of use in our house 😲. It had lost its charm and was just taking up space. But then, my daughter stepped in. She immediately stopped me and said, “Hold on, Mom! Don’t be so quick to give up on it. Let me work on it.”
Her passion for upcycling and transforming old items into something beautiful is something I’ve always admired. But I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure she could turn this old chair into something worth keeping. Yet, her confidence was contagious.
“I’ll make it a masterpiece,” she told me with a smile that left no room for doubt.
So, the process of restoration began. The chair, which had once been full of life but now looked tired and lifeless, was about to go through a magical transformation. She decided to keep the wooden frame almost untouched, preserving its rustic and nostalgic appeal.
For the plywood parts, which were worn and faded, she painted them a soft mint green, creating a gentle contrast that highlighted the wood’s natural beauty.
When she was finished, the chair had completely changed. It no longer looked like just a piece of furniture—it had become a unique decorative item, full of character and charm. This old chair had been given a second life, and it now inspires us every day. What do you think of her work? 👇
