Billy Walden, an 18-year-old from Lancaster, UK, is a young man with a passion for craftsmanship. Always busy fixing, creating, and innovating, Billy is constantly pushing his limits. A prime example of his skills is the restoration of an old Volkswagen van he did all by himself.
But his most impressive project yet is the transformation of a rusty old boat into a stunning floating home for his family – and he did it all in just two months!
Billy bought the boat for £5,000 (about 400,000 rubles) with money from his mother. «I loved renovating this boat,» Billy says. «It’s fantastic to be able to create a home for my family. It took a lot of precise work because everything had to be rebuilt.
Normally, the boat would have cost about £12,000, but since it didn’t pass all the tests, we managed to get it at a reduced price. Then we spent an additional £2,800 to renovate the interior to our liking. Now, there’s space for everyone, a bathtub, glass doors opening onto the deck, and even affordable Audi seats.»
The project took patience and dedication, but Billy found it incredibly rewarding. «It’s like a floating country house where we can relax with the whole family during the summer,» he adds. The walls were removed to open up the space, and Billy used wood beams and metal profiles to build the frame, gradually assembling the home.
The floating home now includes a hand-built kitchen and dining room, crafted with natural materials. Billy also installed glass doors leading out onto the deck from the living room.
His sister’s room was lovingly decorated with charming details by her and their mother.
Billy even turned the terrace into a cozy outdoor lounge. Now, the family uses the floating home regularly, traveling along canals and coastlines, having already covered hundreds of miles together.
